EPF contribution rate reduce from 11% to 8%
Posted by Butnaa | Thursday, November 06, 2008 | Finance 财经, Malaysia News 时事新闻, Saving Money 储蓄 | 3 comments »Employee's EPF contribution Rate reduce from 11% to 8%, effective from Jan 2009 wage for a period of two years.
what do you think? Good or bad?
According to the Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister YAB Datuk Seri Najib Tun Abdul Razak, the objective of this move is to help to increase the buying power to support domestic consumption and to sustain the current economic outlook. Is this mean to ask Malaysian to saving lesser and spend more money? But this statement is contradict to the 'advice' from our 'lovely' Prime Minister who ask Malaysian to keep more money, change the life style and spend wisely to face the current economy.
We had heard a lot of news from media about the EPF is not enough to suport the living after retired. Now the govenrment implement this reduction, will it cause more people will get suffer after retired?
According to EPF, start from Jan 2009, this reduction will implement automatically. For members who wish to maintain the contrubution rate at 11%, you may need to fill up a form 'KWSP 17A (AHL). Once completed, submit the form to your employers for submission to EPF.
You may download this form from EPF website from 1 Dec 08 onwards.
So you want to maintain or reduce the rate ? Please think wisely. :)EPF do not pays dividends to savings reserved under housing loan monthly instalment withdrawal?
Posted by Butnaa | Thursday, November 06, 2008 | Malaysia News 时事新闻, Saving Money 储蓄 | 0 comments »
Last week I had received an email from a friend. The email content mainly is complain about EPF had cheated our money. Why they said so? According to the email, for those who had apply for the withrawals of money from 2nd account to pay for monthly housing loan installment was cheated by EPF. The EPF will keep aside members' savings in a seperate accounts for this withrawals and EPF will not pays any dividends to the said amount.
Example: If you apply RM 50,000 for housing loan installment, monthly installment is RM800. So 1 year is RM9,600. So there are still remain RM40,400 in another account. Let say every year EPF has pay 5% interest. So RM40,400 x 5% = RM2,020. If the above statement is true, then you will lose RM2,020.
After reading this email, I quickly check at EPF website and you know what? EPF had made a statement that DIVIDEND will still pay to the balance of the said amount. So friends, sometime don't blindly believe the emails that you read. Check th truth before you made any statement that will confuse others.
You may link to EPF website to read the statement http://www.kwsp.gov.my/index.php?ch=p2news&pg=en_p2news_press&ac=2730.
Jalan Alor rename to Jalan Kejora
Posted by Butnaa | Thursday, October 23, 2008 | Malaysia News 时事新闻 | 0 comments »
Malaysia's best-known destination for street food has been renamed, in a surprise re-branding that has created an uproar among the dozens of traders who sell local delicacies there. Jalan Alor, which comes alive at night with more than 100 stalls selling everything from famous chicken satay, BBQ chicken wing to frog porridge, has been renamed Jalan Kejora by city authorities.
Critics say the change is pointless and will only confuse tourists, who nightly flock to the crowded street in the capital's Bukit Bintang district.
"There are no notice, no explanations. They just replaced the street signboard and the only explanation we got from the mayor was in the newspapers." Traders said.
For 50 years this street has established itself as a very famous hawker centre, it is almost a heritage to city folk and to just remove the name is a very uncalled for and irresponsible act by city hall.
International media has also pick up this controversy over this renaming issue. For exmple, Singapore's The Straits Times online, AFP and Frnache24.Popular search engine such as MSN, Yahoo and Google posted the story on their news sites as well.
Since they like to rename the street , why not change other street as well, example:
Alor Star to Kejora Bintang
Alor Gajah to Kejora Gajah
Jalan Alor is already a brand name. We cannot accept the explanation from city authorities saying that want to rebranding the street name to make it more well know. We are not 3 years old boy lah!!
